if there would be a tantrum to follow I would have left the teachers lounge taken her to an empty classroom and would have disciplined her and kept her there until she calmed down.

That's key! Isn't it best to just remove your child from a temptation, instead of letting him/her sit around and watch everyone enjoy what they've had their share of? It's too much to expect a little kid to accept enough is enough, if everyone is still eating. Smart thinking, Farah!

Lying to your children will eventually lead your children to trust you less. It also makes them think that telling "small" lies are ok. Unfortunately there are many parents out there who think telling small lies to make their children do what they want is not harmful, this is definitely bad parenting.

In the situation you mentioned, as a mother I would have let her taken a few chips from you and after that I'd tell her that she had her share, if there would be a tantrum to follow I would have left the teachers lounge taken her to an empty classroom and would have disciplined her and kept her there until she calmed down.

Bottom line, don't lie to your children at any cost, it will save you from sin and save the kids from adopting similar habits!

I remember when this happened and I was thinking the EXACT same thing...

That's it Ayesha, the next time we see that, we're both speaking up. Or just not share our chips.
