kells, don't eat the cheese at mina!!!!!! they leave it for very long periods of time and it's not good for the stomach. also, great book would be "purification of the heart" essential when you're trying to purify your heart and mind through hajj. pack snacks... granola bars to keep up energy and even those 100 snack packs are good! if you have time, go get gatorade/powerade tube packets that you can dump into a bottle for quick hydration. baby wipes are good for bathroom-ing over there. hmm that's all i can think of right now. call me if you wanna talk :)

and thanks again for making it tonight, love you!!!

Salaam Alaykum Warehmatullah Wabarakatuhua few tips i learned from when i went in 2006:1) Eat foods high in energy such as fruit, cheese and bread. Avoid the heavy foods such as the typical desi/arab foods that are packaged in the hajj tours. The healthy stuff will provide you energy without weighing you down during acts of ibadah. You will also thank me when you see the bathrooms. Also drink lots of water (especially zam zam!) 2) When you and Saqib Bhai first approach the haram and the kaaba, close your eyes or look down as you walk in until you reach the area of the kaaba. When you know you are there, look up and slowly open your eyes. Its a indescribable experience to see the kaaba for the first time. 3) A good book or chapter to read before you leave (or while you are there which is what i did) is the Hajj chapter from Malcolm X's Autobiography. 4) Keep a journal. I recently looked back at mine, and it was just wonderful going through the emotions and feelings again. May Allah (swt) bless your trip and accept your hajj insha'Allah ameen! (make duaa for us!)
